U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday he was “not satisfied” with an Iran proposal delivered to mediator Pakistan. Meanwhile, peace talks remained frozen despite a weeks-long ceasefire.
Iran sent the draft to Pakistan on Thursday evening, IRNA reported, without disclosing its contents.
“At this moment I’m not satisfied with what they’re offering,” Trump told reporters, blaming stalled talks on “tremendous discord” within Iran’s leadership.
The war began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. It has been on hold since April 8, with only one failed round of direct talks since then.
Trump wrote to congressional leaders Friday, declaring hostilities “terminated,” despite no stated change in U.S. military posture.
The White House did not detail the proposal. However, Axios reported U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff submitted amendments that would put Tehran’s nuclear programme back on the table.
Iranian judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said Iran had “never shied away from negotiations” but would not accept imposed peace terms.
Iran has kept control of the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting oil, gas and fertiliser flows. Meanwhile, the United States has maintained a counter-blockade on Iranian ports.
Oil prices briefly fell nearly 5% after news of the proposal. Even so, they remained about 50% above prewar levels amid the Strait of Hormuz closure.

The Pentagon said the United States would withdraw about 5,000 troops from Germany over the next year. This announcement came after German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Iran was “humiliating” Washington in negotiations.
Washington also approved major arms sales to Middle East allies, including a $4 billion Patriot missile deal with Qatar. In addition, they approved nearly $1 billion in precision weapons systems for Israel.
Fighting continued elsewhere in the region, with Lebanon’s health ministry saying Israeli strikes killed 13 people in the south. This occurred despite a mid-April ceasefire with Hezbollah.
