Indus Motor Company, a manufacturer of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan, has announced its initiative to export various car models to European nations.
Ali Asghar Jamali, the CEO of Toyota Pakistan, unveiled the plans during a media briefing, stating that the company will export 50 units of its renowned models. The targeted models, including the Toyota Fortuner, Revo, and Corolla Cross, will be shipped to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, with an anticipated foreign exchange earnings of $1.5 million.
In addition to vehicle exports, Jamali disclosed that the company is set to send 150 workers to Japan, a move expected to generate an additional $2.5 million in foreign exchange. Moreover, there are plans to dispatch 100 more workers abroad over the next ten months, potentially doubling the revenue from this endeavour.
During the briefing, Jamali also addressed the competitive pressures facing Japanese and Chinese car manufacturers and expressed the Pakistani automotive industry’s call to the government. He urged initiating negotiations for free trade agreements, particularly with African nations, to bolster exports and synergize with local industrial stakeholders.
