Rawalpindi: Indian troops continued unprovoked firing at Line of Control (LoC) overnight, according to Inter-Services Public Relations.
A statement issued here by the ISPR on Wednesday says, India resorted to unprovoked firing in Bagh, Kelar and Kotli near Nakyal sector at LoC, adding that Indian guns were silenced by befitting response from Pakistani security forces.
On Tuesday, a 28-year-old Pakistani woman injured by firing from Indian forces across the Line of Control died at a hospital in Rawalpindi.
Fareeda was severely injured on Friday after she received bullet wounds in the stomach when Indian Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to unprovoked firing across the border in Jandrot sector near the LoC.
She was being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Rawalpindi where she succumbed to her wounds, the ISPR said in a press statement.
Fareeda is the latest casualty of a recent flare-up at the LoC and Working Boundary that divides the disputed regions between the two neighbouring countries, with India continuously violating the ceasefire agreement.
Last week, three Pakistani civilians were martyred and 11 injured due to a similar incident of unprovoked firing and shelling by Indian forces across the Sialkot Working Boundary.
