RIYADH: The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthis said on Monday that its forces were responding to a drone and cruise missile threat targeting Saudi Arabia.
Saudi state broadcaster Al Ekhbariya carried the announcement, saying the coalition was dealing with incoming aerial threats. However, military officials did not disclose how many drones or missiles were involved.
They provided no information about launch locations or intended targets. Separately, coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Malki reported that Saudi air defences had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile targeting Khamis Mushait.
The latest warning followed deadly attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh over the weekend. On Sunday, an unidentified projectile struck Terminal 4, killing a Pakistani resident and injuring 11 others, according to Saudi authorities.
