Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced plans on Sunday for a Persian Gulf Data Authority.
He threatened enforcement against regional backers of technology companies he accused of supporting invasions or killing children.
Writing on X, Ghalibaf addressed governments, investment funds and businesses across the region. He urged them to withhold resources from artificial intelligence (AI) and data companies involved in the conduct he described.
His warning covered financing and equity, as well as land and energy supplies. “Assist them and face our enforcement,” he wrote.

However, Ghalibaf named no companies or countries in the statement. He gave no launch date for the proposed authority.
Nor did he explain its legal powers, leadership or how it would carry out enforcement across the region. Ghalibaf announced a planned data authority and threatened enforcement against regional backers of technology firms he accused of supporting attacks.
