India’s T20 World Cup Bonus was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the team won its third men’s T20 World Cup title. The cricket board awarded INR1.31 billion ($14.24 million) to the players, support staff and selectors following India’s victory in the final.

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in Ahmedabad on Sunday to lift the trophy. In addition to the $2.34 million in tournament prize money, the team will now receive a much larger cash reward from the BCCI.

The board said the bonus was meant to recognise a historic achievement. In its statement, the BCCI congratulated the squad, support staff and selectors and wished them continued success in the future.

The additional reward is notable because it exceeds the overall tournament prize pool of $11.25 million. That underlines the financial strength of the BCCI, which remains the richest cricket board in the world.

This is not the first time the board has handed out a major reward after a title win. Last year, the BCCI also gave the Champions Trophy-winning Indian team a $6.72 million cash bonus, on top of the $2.24 million they received for winning that tournament.

India’s Next Target After T20 World Cup Glory

India’s latest success adds to the team’s legacy in the shortest format. With this title, India became three-time men’s T20 World Cup champions, further strengthening its place among cricket’s most successful sides.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav also pointed to the team’s next major target. He said India now wants to chase a gold medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The announcement keeps attention on both India’s on-field success and the scale of the reward that followed. It also reflects how seriously the board values major global titles.
