Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), will contest the upcoming election from three constituencies.

During a press conference, PTI Interim Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali and Barrister Ali Zafar announced that Imran Khan will run in the National Assembly constituencies of Mianwali, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Barrister Ali Zafar emphasized PTI’s determination to have the general elections on February 8, stating that any delay in submitting nomination papers contradicts democratic principles. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan added that PTI is not planning to boycott the elections despite anticipating attempts by opponents to create challenging situations. He declared his candidacy for the Buner constituency.

The party officials expressed their expectation that the Election Commission would uphold PTI’s rights as a political entity. They also addressed concerns about potential obstacles being placed by their political adversaries. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan mentioned that the allocation of party tickets will be decided shortly, advising candidates to prepare for hardships and submit their nomination papers promptly.

Additionally, Barrister Ali Zafar expressed hope for a swift decision by the Election Commission regarding PTI’s election symbol and highlighted the importance of transparency in the elections for the health of democracy. He also shared expectations for an imminent decision from the Islamabad High Court in the Toshakhana case. He confirmed that PTI leaders currently in jail would be given preference in candidate selection.
