The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to launch a protest march against the government from 7th August onwards from Peshawar.

This was decided by a high-level meeting of the party convened at the residence of Imran Khan in Bani Gala.

Imran Khan said that they will have to make a choice between a ‘corrupt government’ and ‘strong democracy’. He said that the country was at a critical juncture and the people expressed their hopes with the PTI.

PTI Spokesman, Naeem-ul-Haq said that Imran Khan would also be part of the march which will be launched from Peshawar and will reach Attock where other smaller groups will join them.

“The march will be a defining moment in the history of Pakistan,” he said. However, the protest will not end there but the movement will continue for weeks in several different cities across the country.

Naeem said that the intra-party elections had been suspended indefinitely. He denied that there was any tussle or rift between Jehangir Tareen and Shah Mahmood Qureshi. He said that a meeting of the ToRs committee have been convened on 6th August which will reveal the true intentions of the government. The committee was formed to set up the parliamentary commission to investigate against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after the name of his family members appeared in the Panama Papers.

He said that they have also discussed a petition to be filed by Naeem Bukhari against the Prime Minister. Naeem also condemned the atrocities in Indian-Occupied Kashmir and urged international organisations to take notice of the violations.

Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed welcomed the protest march and confirmed that he will be a part of it. He said that an All-Parties Conference (APC) will be convened by the Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) of Tahir-ul-Qadri which will make the final decision.
