Illegal parking mafias have again spread their tentacles into shopping centers and markets of Karachi and are collecting huge sum in the form of extortions.
Citizens frequenting the markets for the upcoming Eid festival are being fleeced by this mafia, which on its very own discretion have started operating parking zones around the shopping centers and are charging around 20 rupees per motorcycle and 50 rupees per car, most of the time without any receipt.
This year, the municipal corporation has decided to setup parking areas away from shopping centers and public places but sources have claimed that in Saddar, Tariq Road, Hyderi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal , Clifton and other areas, police have allotted illegal parking areas to such mafia and the extortionists are earning millions in the holy month of Ramadan.
