Real Madrid has fined Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni € 500,000 each after a training-ground confrontation at Valdebebas, according to the sources.
The report said tension between the midfielders began with a refusal of a greeting and escalated during competitive training drills.
Teammates and staff intervened after the exchange turned physical and disrupted the session, according to the report.
Valverde required brief medical attention after striking a table and sustaining a cut during the incident.
Real Madrid said both players apologised to each other, the club, teammates, coaching staff and fans.
The club said Valverde and Tchouameni made themselves available for any sanction Real Madrid considered appropriate.
Real Madrid imposed the €500,000 penalties on each player and closed its internal disciplinary process, according to the club statement cited in the report.
The report said Valverde could miss 10 to 14 days because of the minor injury, while Tchouameni returned to training under media scrutiny.
Tchouameni said the incident did not meet Real Madrid’s standards and apologised for the image it projected of the club.
