KARACHI: Hassan Jahangir Rekha’s rumour resurfaced after the veteran Pakistani singer declined to confirm whether the Bollywood actor once sent him a love letter.
Jahangir made the remarks on “Excuse Me” with Ahmad Ali Butt. Asked about the long-running claim involving the “Umrao Jaan” actor, Jahangir said some matters should remain private.
The “Hawa Hawa” singer said he had received love from India throughout his career and respected several Bollywood figures.
He named Madhuri Dixit, Mandakini, Sonu Walia, Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Govinda, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan among his Bollywood friends.

When Butt asked which of them had written love letters, Jahangir replied that everyone writes them at some point.
Jahangir also recalled a mugging incident in which two men returned his phone and car keys after recognising him. He said the men apologised and left after he told them he was Hassan Jahangir.
Asked about India-Pakistan relations, the singer said people should love their countries and their neighbours. He said relations should remain peaceful and that he opposed war and violence.
Jahangir said Indian actor Dharmendra had taught him the phrase “Think high, look down,” which he described as advice to remain ambitious and humble.
