The Government of Pakistan has ordered  the Pakistan High Commission (HC) in the UK to provide consular assistance to the Chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain

According to Government spokesperson, Pakistan High Commission (HC) in London was directed to provide all  legal and moral assistance to the MQM Chief, Altaf Hussain, who was arrested by the London Metropolitan Police earlier today, on suspicion of money laundering.

Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif has asked the Government of Sindh and the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to insure the safety of life and possessions of the people in Karachi.

He also expressed his grief over the torching of vehicles and firing incidents in the metropolis.

In a statement issued in the evening, MQM spokesperson had clarified that those spreading violence in Karachi have nothing to do with the party and none of the  MQM workers are involved in such activities.
