The latest Hollywood feud has ignited between George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino, stemming from comments the famed director made about Clooney’s status as a movie star.
During a GQ cover interview alongside Brad Pitt, Clooney expressed his irritation, recounting a moment when Tarantino questioned his star status in a separate interview.
“Quentin said some things about me recently that I found irritating,” Clooney shared. He explained that during a discussion on movie stars, Tarantino had dismissed him as not being a star since the turn of the millennium, prompting a sharp response from Clooney. “Since the millennium? That’s practically my entire career,” Clooney remarked, indicating his readiness to challenge Tarantino’s view publicly: “Now I’m like, alright, dude, fuck off. I don’t mind giving him shit back.”
Despite the friction, Clooney acknowledged their mutual history of working with top-tier directors, appreciating the opportunities both have had. “We’re really lucky we got to work with these great directors. A good director and screenplay are what keep you relevant,” he said.
Clooney’s filmography since 2000 includes notable successes such as “The Perfect Storm,” the “Ocean’s Eleven” trilogy, “Gravity,” and “Hail Caesar!”. He and Tarantino previously collaborated in 1996 on the film “From Dusk Till Dawn.”
Brad Pitt, who has worked with Tarantino in films like “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” also chimed in, praising Tarantino’s acting in “Dusk.” Clooney, however, offered a more reserved assessment of Tarantino’s performance.
While Clooney’s comments reflect a mix of irritation and humor, it underscores the competitive and often candid nature of relationships in Hollywood’s upper echelons. Despite the tension, there remains a mutual respect for the artistry and opportunities their careers have afforded them.
