The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has urged exporters to explore the Russian food market as it has imposed a ban on imports from Western countries.

In a statement issued yesterday,Pak-Russia Business Council (PRBC) Chairman Farooq Afzal said that the “Russian government’s decision to ban fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, milk and dairy imports from US, EU, Australia, Canada and other countries has opened up a window of opportunity for Pakistani food exporters”.

He further said that exporters would easily find ready market for kinno, mango, rice, processed food and fruit juices. He said that a visit to any supermarket in Russian city would disclose that the country is heavily dependent on imported food items.

Mr Afzal said that the ban on import of food and agriculture products from the West could immensely benefit Pakistani exporters if proper awareness and guidance is given.
