Elon Musk has responded generously to Gisele Bundchen’s heartfelt appeal for aid following devastating floods in Brazil. The tech mogul announced a significant contribution from his aerospace company, SpaceX.

Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state has suffered catastrophic flooding, resulting in 108 fatalities and numerous injuries and displacements. Over 1.5 million residents have been affected, with many forced to leave.

New rainfall has hampered rescue operations in areas submerged by water, temporarily halting efforts in some regions. Amidst these challenges, volunteers and rescuers are striving to assist those stranded.

Musk has pledged to donate 1,000 Starlink terminals to improve communication for emergency responders and affected residents. This satellite internet service, developed by SpaceX, will be provided free of charge until the region recovers.

Given the terrible flooding in Rio Grande do Sul, @Starlink will donate 1000 terminals to emergency responders and make usage for all terminals in the region free until the region has recovered.

Musk expressed his support via his social media platform, X, stating, “Given the terrible flooding in the Rio Grande do Sul, @Starlink will donate 1000 terminals to emergency responders and make usage for all terminals in the region free until the region has recovered. I hope the best for the people of Brazil.”

Alongside Musk’s announcement, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who hails from Rio Grande do Sul, released a video urging support for the flood victims. She depicted the extensive impact, with over 350 cities affected by the floods, calling the scenes from her home state “painful and heartbreaking.”

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has attributed the severity of the floods to climate change, underscoring the urgent need for more robust measures to address such natural disasters.
