MECCA: Saudi authorities have rejected claims of a suicide bomber at the Grand Mosque, saying security officers arrested a man accused of harassing passersby and causing fear and panic.
Public Security addressed the incident in a statement on X. Security personnel intervened immediately, took legal measures against the man and referred him to the Public Prosecution.
Earlier social media posts alleged that a man wearing an explosive vest had approached the Kaaba before officers stopped him.
However, Public Security dismissed that account, declaring there was “no truth to the claims being circulated”. The Kaaba stands at the centre of the Grand Mosque, Islam’s holiest sanctuary.
