Disney plans to discontinue using Slack, a Salesforce-owned messaging service, following a data breach that exposed a terabyte of company information. The Status media newsletter detailed this decision, indicating a move to other enterprise-wide collaboration tools.
According to the report, Disney’s CFO, Hugh Johnston, stated that most of the company’s business units would cease using Slack later this year. Several teams have already begun the transition to alternative collaboration platforms.
According to Reuters, requests for comment from Disney and Salesforce’s Slack were not immediately answered.
The hacking group NullBulge was responsible for leaking data from thousands of Slack channels at Disney. The Wall Street Journal reported in July that this breach included sensitive information such as computer code and details about unreleased projects.
The Wall Street Journal also noted earlier this month that the leaked data encompassed over 44 million messages from Disney’s Slack channels.

In August, Disney confirmed it was investigating the unauthorized release of the substantial data volume from one of its communication systems.
NullBulge targets software supply chains by exploiting code vulnerabilities on platforms like GitHub and Hugging Face. SentinelOne’s threat intelligence and malware analysis team indicated that the group deceives users into downloading malicious files.
