Rapper Kendrick Lamar‘s teacher reunion drew fan praise after he met his seventh-grade science teacher at Centennial High School in Compton, California, on Thursday, May 7.
Lamar attended an event at his alma mater, where he reunited with childhood teachers and shared a hug with the former science teacher. The teacher said her daughter had urged her to attend, telling her Lamar would recognise her.
The 38-year-old “Not Like Us” hitmaker recognised her during the event and told her, “I’ll never forget you.” The exchange circulated online, with fans praising the moment in social media comments.

The event also brought Dr. Dre and will.i.am to Centennial High School for a $270 million modernisation project. The project marks the first major construction at the Compton school in more than 70 years.
Lamar graduated with the class of 2005 and remains one of Centennial High School’s most prominent alumni. The reunion added an emotional moment to the school celebration.
