Copenhagen Airport, the Nordic region’s busiest, reopened early Tuesday, September 23, 2025, after drones halted flights for nearly four hours. Norway’s Oslo Airport also resumed operations by 3:22 AM (0122 GMT) after a similar drone-related closure. Both incidents disrupted travel across the region.

Copenhagen Police reported two or three large drones near the airport on Monday evening. Flights stopped at 8:26 PM (1826 GMT), per FlightRadar. About 50 flights were diverted. Oslo’s airspace was closed from midnight due to a drone sighting, redirecting all flights.

Copenhagen Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jakob Hansen said, “We are investigating what kind of drones these are.” The drones vanished, and none were seized. Denmark and Norway will work together to check for links between the incidents.

Copenhagen Airport warned of ongoing delays and cancellations. “Check with your airline,” they posted on X. Oslo reported normal operations but urged passengers to confirm flight statuses. The disruptions hit thousands of travellers.

This follows a cyberattack last Friday on Collins Aerospace systems. It affected check-in at Heathrow, Berlin, and Brussels airports. The fallout continued into Monday, snarling European travel. A 2018 Gatwick drone incident also disrupted thousands of flights.

Drone sightings threaten air safety and cause costly delays. Authorities must act fast to prevent risks. Travellers face uncertainty, and airlines lose revenue. Copenhagen and Oslo airports are open after drone disruptions. Police are probing the incidents. Check flight updates and stay informed on travel safety.
