Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, on assuming Pakistan Army’s command.
Details indicate that the prime minister spoke with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir via telephone and congratulated him on assuming his duties.
PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that heading the formidable Pakistan Army is a huge honor and expressed confidence that General Asim Munir would further improve the nation’s defense.
He wished General Munir the best of luck in efficiently addressing security and anti-terrorism problems.
General Asim Munir, whose predecessor, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, handed him the “baton of command” this morning, thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his well wishes and words of congratulations.
General Asim Munir assumed leadership of the Pakistan Army from General Qamar Javed Bajwa at a ceremony held at the General Headquarters earlier on November 29.
