The opposition and the government have shortlisted three names for appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) today,
The Supreme Court has directed the government and the opposition to appoint the CEC by December 8, otherwise the court will order legal action against the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
According to sources, the opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar have agreed over three names for the CEC which will be sent to the parliamentary committee for final decision.
The agreed three names included Justice Sardar Raza Khan, Justice Tariq Pervez and Justice Muneera Shaikh.
The names will be sent to the parliamentary committee for picking one of the candidates as CEC.
