Cape Verde held Spain to a 0-0 draw in their World Cup opener, earning their first point at the tournament in one of the biggest upsets of the group stage.
Goalkeeper Vozinha, 40, produced a key performance for Cape Verde as they withstood heavy Spanish pressure.
Spain finished with 27 shots and dominated possession, while Cape Verde had just 26% of the ball.
Cape Verde still held firm against the European champions and 2010 World Cup winners.
The result carried extra weight because Cape Verde, with a population of about 550,000, is the third-smallest country to reach the men’s World Cup finals.
Vozinha had already made four saves by halftime after Spain attempted 13 shots in the opening period.
