Brazil beat Scotland 3-0 in Miami on Wednesday to reach the World Cup last 32 as Group C winners, with Vinicius Junior scoring twice.
Vinicius punished a defensive error in the seventh minute after Rayan closed down Scott McKenna inside Scotland’s box. The Real Madrid forward rounded Angus Gunn and finished to give Brazil an early lead.
Vinicius headed in again in first-half stoppage time after Andy Robertson’s pass was intercepted. Bruno Guimaraes then crossed for Brazil’s second goal.
Scotland had already escaped once when a Vinicius finish was overturned after a VAR review. The referee ruled that Vinicius had clipped Jack Hendry before scoring.
Matheus Cunha added Brazil’s third in the hour from a Guimaraes lay-off. The Manchester United forward also scored three goals in the tournament.
Vinicius now has four goals in three World Cup games. He became the first Brazilian to score in every group match at a World Cup since Ronaldo and Rivaldo in 2002.

Neymar came on for Cunha in the 76th minute for his first Brazil appearance since October 2023. The crowd greeted Brazil’s all-time top scorer with loud cheers.
Brazil will play a last-32 tie in Houston on June 29 against the Group F runner-up. Scotland finished third in Group C with three points and must wait to see if it qualifies as one of the best third-placed teams.
