Bandits fatally shot Allah Rakhiyo Nandwani, a dedicated primary school teacher, in the riverine belt of Kandhkot-Kashmore, Sindh.
On Monday, March 18, Nandwani was returning from Nasrullah Khan Bijarani’s cluster primary school, a known hotspot for dacoit activity, when he was intercepted and killed.
The tragic event follows a recently viral video showing Nandwani, armed for protection, commuting to the school. He expressed his commitment to teaching despite warnings from police and education officials about the dangers of entering the area, emphasizing the importance of the children’s future over the risks. Despite repeated efforts and assertions by provincial and other law enforcement bodies to diminish their influence, dacoits continue to maintain a stronghold in this area.
In a display of defiance against the lawlessness, Nandwani insisted on fulfilling his teaching responsibilities. The video also depicted his son, a student at the same school, accompanying him on his motorcycle.
The attack occurred near the Mandani checkpost, as confirmed by local law enforcement.
Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar has demanded a comprehensive investigation report from Larkana Deputy Inspector General Nasir Aftab within two days, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
This latest assault underscores the ongoing challenge the police face in curbing dacoit dominance in the Kashmore district. Over the past year, more than 400 abductions have been attributed to these criminals.
Despite the Sindh Police conducting over 250 operations, the dacoits remain at large, exploiting the geographical challenges of the kacha areas. The police’s limited arsenal, primarily armoured vehicles, proves inadequate for penetrating the dense foliage and sandy terrains concealing the dacoits’ hideouts.
