Bilawal Ghizer rally remarks urged voters in Gilgit-Baltistan to give the Pakistan Peoples Party a heavy mandate in Sunday’s elections. All three Ghizer seats were targeted.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addressed supporters in Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan, on Thursday as parties intensified their campaigning ahead of the polls. He said a PPP majority was needed to protect the region’s rights.
Bilawal said the PPP won nine seats in the last Gilgit-Baltistan elections and claimed other seats were stolen. He linked the party’s campaign to the legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
The PPP chairman credited Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with providing subsidies to the region and Benazir Bhutto with granting Ghizer district status. He said President Asif Ali Zardari gave Gilgit-Baltistan its Assembly, identity, governor and chief minister.

Bilawal said that PPP-backed legislation had transferred 28,000 square kilometres of land to local and common ownership. He warned rival parties could reverse the law if the PPP failed to form the next government.
He promised ownership of arable land, merit-based jobs for unemployed youth and a housing scheme starting from Ghizer. In addition, he said the plan would follow the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood-Affected Programme. That program, he said, was building two million homes.

Bilawal also said the PPP would use artificial intelligence tools in examinations and candidate selection to reduce favouritism. He has held rallies this week in Shigar, Skardu and Diamer, where he pledged to address resettlement issues related to the Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
