Barbeques Galore stores will shut across Australia after a $5 million rescue deal failed, leaving more than 500 workers facing uncertainty.
The retailer entered voluntary administration in February 2026. A proposed deed of company arrangement backed by Gordon Brothers failed after the business could not secure acceptable trading terms with suppliers and other counterparties.
Receivers Ankura said the Barbeques Galore Group had reached a point where the conditions attached to the deed proposal could not be implemented.
An Ankura spokesman said no other transaction or recapitalisation proposal was available. He said the group would move toward winding up on June 16, 2026.
The failed Gordon Brothers plan had included a $5 million payment to creditors. The payment will no longer proceed.

The proposed rescue had creditor support, but talks with landlords, suppliers and other parties failed to produce workable commercial terms.
The company now expects to close 62 stores across Australia. Transitional arrangements are also underway for 27 franchisee-owned stores.
