Former captain Azhar Ali has been named the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s Head of Youth Development after a comprehensive recruitment process.
In addition to this new role, Azhar continues his Men’s National Selection Committee member duties.
Azhar, a prominent figure in Pakistan cricket, started his international career at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in 2002 and later joined the senior national team. From 2010 to 2022, his career includes playing 97 Tests and 53 ODIs.
As Head of Youth Development, Azhar will focus on developing youth cricket strategies, establishing grassroots structures, and enhancing talent pathways. He will work with regional cricket associations to bolster age-group programs, educate upcoming cricketers through the PCB’s Pathways Programme, and conduct seminars and clinics to promote essential off-field development for young players.
Azhar expressed his enthusiasm and honour in taking on this significant role, saying, “I am eager to collaborate with my colleagues to advance our youth programs further. We aim to discover promising young cricketers and provide them with the necessary tools to succeed at the highest levels.”
The PCB has welcomed Azhar to his new position, affirming that his extensive experience and strategic insight will greatly enhance the development and success of youth cricket in Pakistan.
