Australian billionaire Tim Heath, a cryptocurrency magnate, thwarted a kidnapping attempt at his residence in Tallinn, Estonia. Days before the grand opening of his $100 million casino, the 46-year-old was targeted by assailants disguised as painters.
In late July, while at his flat in Estonia’s capital, Heath faced attackers wearing hi-vis vests, posing as decorators. They planned to abduct him and take him to a secluded location. However, Heath managed to fend off the attackers.
The incident came to light following a court hearing for one of the suspects, Georgian citizen Ilgar Mamedov, who has been in custody since the attack. News of the foiled kidnapping spread across major media outlets, marking a rare break in Heath’s typically low-profile lifestyle.
Reports suggest the criminals had prepared by purchasing necessary equipment from a local hardware store. They aimed to transport Heath to a distant hideout in the Kakerdaja bog, about 65 kilometres from Tallinn.
The event unfolded just over a week before Heath launched the Bombay Club, a luxurious casino designed for high rollers with exclusive gaming rooms, guest accommodations, cigar lounges, and fine dining establishments.
