Kabul, Afghanistan: Afghanistan’s foreign arrivals and departures crossed 8,500 in the past three months, the National Statistics and Information Authority said Saturday. The authority said airports and border crossings recorded 8,560 travel movements by foreign nationals during the period.
Inbound arrivals reached 4,568 foreign travellers, while outbound departures stood at 3,992, according to the authority’s statement on X.
The authority cited tourism and employment-related activity as the main reasons for foreign travel. It said the busiest entry and exit points included border crossings in Herat, Nimroz, Faryab, Badakhshan and Balkh.
Herat and Balkh airports were also among the most active travel hubs, according to the statement. The authority said the increase reflected growing international interest in Afghanistan.
It linked the trend to improved security conditions, historical and cultural attractions, natural landscapes and favourable climate.
Earlier travel-sector data showed more than 34,000 foreign travellers crossing the Afghan border annually.
