KARACHI, Sindh: Customs officials recovered 14 Karachi airport iPhones allegedly hidden beneath a washroom commode and two liquor bottles from an international passenger on Saturday, according to the Collectorate of Customs.
The passenger had arrived from Hong Kong via Colombo at Jinnah International Airport when his movements attracted officials’ attention, the Customs account cited by local media said. He remained inside a public washroom for about 20 minutes.
Customs personnel searched the passenger after he left the washroom and found two bottles of liquor in his baggage. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed that he had hidden 14 new mobile phones after noticing Customs officials.

A Customs team then searched the washroom and recovered the phones from underneath a commode. The devices were new iPhone 18 Pro Max models, although the Collectorate account cited by other outlets described them more generally as new iPhones.
Officials said they seized the phones and liquor under the Customs Act, with their combined value estimated at approximately Rs5 million. Authorities initiated further legal proceedings and investigations against the passenger.
The separate Rs32 million arms seizure included in the supplied material has been omitted because it concerns a different Customs enforcement operation and is not part of the Karachi airport incident.
