Seattle: AWS AI engineers will be embedded with customers under a new $1 billion Amazon Web Services unit aimed at accelerating enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence software.
Amazon said Tuesday that the division will employ forward-deployed engineers who work directly with clients to build production-grade AI systems.
Yahoo Finance reported that AWS will send teams of engineers into client companies for 45-day periods.
Vasquez said customers had a strong demand for help driving agentic AI patterns into their workflows.
The brief said forward-deployed engineers work alongside clients, navigate internal processes and write production code to make AI models deliver results.
AWS said it plans to staff the new unit with “thousands” of employees through external hiring and internal transfers.
Amazon said initial customers include the National Basketball Association and electronics company Ricoh.

The Tech Portal reported that AWS is joining companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Cloud and Salesforce in building teams that help businesses deploy AI at scale. Demand for forward-deployed engineers and similar roles grew 42-fold from 2023 to 2025.
