Chilas, Gilgit-Baltistan: A Chilas cloudburst triggered flash floods in Thor on Saturday, washing away a house, a mosque, cattle and a vehicle.
The flooding hit Thor, about 15 to 20 kilometres west of Chilas. Raging waters also entered homes and fields in several areas.
Floodwaters washed away 200 grams of gold extracted through placer mining. The torrents severed road links between Thor and the surrounding areas. The connecting roads and the Niat Highway were damaged or blocked, isolating several villages.
Local residents were carrying out relief and rescue work on their own till the filing of the report. Severed routes delayed access for official response teams.

The floodwaters damaged agricultural land and standing crops. It also reported losses to residential property and vehicles.
Thor lies in Diamer district, where mountain communities face recurring risks from sudden cloudbursts, flash floods and blocked roads during extreme weather.
No official casualty figure was reported at the time of publication.
