The interior ministry on Saturday clarified that NGOs and their funding do not come under the purview of National Action Plan (NAP).
In a response to Supreme Court judge Justice Jawed S Khawaja’s remarks “that the NAP was a joke with the nation”, spokesman for the interior ministry said NGOs and their funding do not fall within the ambit of the NAP.
The ministry further stated that the implementation of NAP was not the sole responsibility of a single institution or a ministry rather it was a national agenda which different ministries of the federal government, armed forces, intelligence agencies and provincial government’s were trying to execute.
The spokesman said 54,376 operations were carried out under the National Action Plan, and the ministry intends to present a detained report in the Supreme Court next week.
The ministry said despite several foreign and domestic hurdles in the implementation of the NAP, Pakistan is among the country’s that has seen a decline in acts of terrorism.
