Moonbug Entertainment is taking JJ’s first day of kindergarten to cinemas in “CoComelon: The Movie”, an animated musical scheduled for release in February 2027.
A May 14 announcement on Moonbug’s website named the voice cast and production partners. Its official movie page now provides the story details.
On his first day at school, JJ discovers that his stuffed bear, Boba, has disappeared. He joins Cody, CeCe and Nina on a search that takes them to a magical land. Princess Harmony rules that land, where singing is forbidden.
Singer SZA voices the princess, while actor Nicholas Hoult plays Boba. Actor Connor Esterson voices JJ, and actor Ike Barinholtz plays Chicken Peels.
Director Kat Good leads the project. Songwriter Justin Tranter serves as executive music producer, and the film features 10 new songs.
Moonbug is producing the film with Flywheel Media, Prime Focus Studios and DreamWorks Animation. Animation studio DNEG Group handles the animation.
CoComelon began on YouTube in September 2006 with nursery rhymes and short animated videos. In 2020, Netflix added repackaged versions of its YouTube content.
The Netflix-exclusive spinoff “CoComelon Lane” launched on November 17, 2023. It gave JJ and his friends more dialogue and stories about their everyday experiences.
