If you have trouble watching videos on YouTube, it might be due to the app’s new policy on ad blockers.
Recently, several users reported that any video they tapped to play on their phones or tablets skipped to the end after a few seconds, according to Phone Arena.
This likely means you have an ad blocker running on your device that needs to be turned off to watch the entire video.
Why can’t people use ad blockers on YouTube?
Last October, YouTube announced it was increasing its efforts against ad blockers to encourage users to sign up for its premium version, which does not show ads.
This move ensures the company gets paid for making videos available to viewers and rewarding content creators who can monetize their work.
In the first quarter, the tech giant highlighted that YouTube ads generated $8.09 billion for its parent company, Alphabet.
YouTube ad revenue climbed 21% annually and contributed roughly 10% of Alphabet’s total revenue during the first three months of 2024.
