An anti-terrorism court (ATC) earlier today handed over Lyari gang leader Uzair Baloch to the Sindh Rangers on a 90-day physical remand.
A TV footage showed Uzair Baloch, clad in white shalwar kameez and with his face covered, being taken to the court by the Rangers personnel. The court ordered his 90-day physical remand into Rangers custody.
Later, as Uzair Baloch, escorted by Rangers personnel, walked out of the court, he had no cover on his face.
Earlier today, spokesman Sindh Rangers announced the arrest of Uzair Baloch, saying that the gang-war leader was nabbed as he tried to enter the port city.
Uzair Baloch had escaped from the country after the launch of Karachi operation against target killers and criminal elements in 2013.
Pakistani government had issued red warrants for Baloch after he fled from the country.
Over the past few years a number of cases including those of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, extortion, other heinous crimes were lodged against Uzair Balolch in several police stations of the provincial capital.
Baloch was arrested a day after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday telephoned Director General (DG) Sindh Rangers, Major General Bilal Akbar and exchanged views on ongoing Karachi operation.
The interior minister consulted DG Rangers on making Karachi operation more effective.
