Royal Mail will release a new UK castle stamps collection on May 21, featuring eight historic castles and a mini-sheet of four royal castles.
British illustrator Rob Ball created the artwork. David Gold, Royal Mail’s director of external affairs, said the stamps celebrate the skill, ambition, and durability of these structures.
Warwick Castle in Warwick, England, sits atop a hill built by William the Conqueror in 1068, forcing attackers to climb under heavy armour.
Bamburgh Castle overlooks the Northumberland coast and has guarded the area for over 1,400 years; Vikings captured it in 993 AD.
Stirling Castle perches on a volcanic crag and has controlled the River Forth crossing since the early 12th century.
Dundrum Castle, built around 1177, uses a Motte-and-Bailey layout; today it lies in ruins. Pembroke Castle, dating back to the 11th century, is the birthplace of Henry VII, founder of the Tudor Dynasty.
Raglan Castle in Monmouthshire served as Henry VII’s childhood home and is linked to the Battle of Agincourt.

Dunluce Castle in Antrim, Northern Ireland, rises on a cliff and is known for the Banshee legend.
Urquhart Castle overlooks Loch Ness; government troops destroyed it during the 18th-century Jacobite Risings.
The miniature sheet features Windsor, Dover, Balmoral, and Caernarfon Castles, highlighting royal heritage and architecture.
