At least seven suspected militants were killed when a powerful explosion occurred in a compound in the Sepah area of Tirah Valley, Khyber Agency today.
Officials and tribal sources informed that the explosion occurred in a compound, occupied by militants from the banned Lashkar-e-Islami terror outfit.
The nature of the explosion could not be ascertained but tribal sources believe that explosives in the possession of the militants accidentally went off as they were preparing bombs.
Identities of the dead militants are yet to be determined but almost all of them were associated with the powerful Lashkar-e-Islami and belonged to the Bara region of Khyber Agency.A number of militants were also injured in the explosion.
The Pak armed forces are carrying out an Operation in the area called “Khyber I” to destroy the Lashkar-Islami.
