The Punjab Assembly approved the Free Education Bill 2014.
According to the bill, education up to 16-year children has been made mandatory and parents, who refuse to send their children to schools, will be fined.
Addressing the house, Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan said “Our aim is to enlist Pakistan into the list of educated countries and we are pursuing ultra modern policies to promote education at grassroots level,”
Like Sindh Assembly, Punjab Provincial Assembly also passed the Punjab Local Government Bill 2014 by a majority of the house.
According to the bill the ECP will carry out delimitation of constituencies of the local government.
The ordinance was presented by provincial Law Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman.
