Qadri’s execution: Most private schools to remain closed today in Islamabad

Most private schools in the urban areas of the federal capital of Islamabad will remain closed today (Tuesday.) Due to violence expected after the execution of the convicted murderer Mumtaz Qadri

The Private Schools Association president Zofran Elahi said the schools that would be closed included Beaconhouse School System, Roots, Islamabad Convent School, Lahore Grammar School, Frobel’s International, City School, Headstart and others.

He said the around  200 schools that were part of the association would be closed because of the expected law and order situation on Tuesday.

On the other hand, Dr Afzal Babar, the president of Private Schools Network, an association of low cost private institutions, said all the member schools of the association would remain open on Tuesday.

The International Islamic University, Comsats, Quaid-i-Azam University, Nust, Numl, NCA and many other universities will also remain closed.

Meanwhile, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi postponed matriculation exams in the city and cantonment on Tuesday, according to Chairman BISE Dr Mohammad Zareef.

He said that exams would be held as scheduled in other parts of Rawalpindi district.
