Declaring the existing level of power load-shedding as unacceptable, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday clearly directed to bring down load-shedding level to 6 hours in urban and 7 hours in rural areas in the next few days.

The Prime Minister was chairing a high level meeting here at the PM House to review electricity generation in the country.

He was briefed about load management plan for the months of May, June and July.

The Prime Minister directed to immediately shift gas from fertilizer industry to power sector and reduce gas supply to CNG sector partially for additional 592 Megawatts generation in the system.

He was told that additional 1,000 Megawatts of electricity will be added in the system from the hydel sources on May 11, 2014 and by the end of this month 3,500 Megawatts more from hydel sources will also be added.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministries of Finance, Petroleum and Natural Resources and Water and Power to ensure that fuel shortage issue is resolved in the next few days.

630 Megawatts would also be added in the system through additional supply of fuel to Muzaffargarh and Jamshoro power plants.

The Prime Minister also directed to reactivate dormant power stations.

He further directed to shift the fuel supply through Railway to power houses to avoid leakages, pilferage and corruption.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Information, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali, Minister of State for Petroleum, Jam Kamal Khan, Special Assistant to PM, Dr. Musadiq Malik and senior officers.
