The Parliamentary Committee on the Appointment of Chief Election Commissioner will meet today to finalize one of the three names shortlisted for the top election commission slot.
Yesterday, government and the opposition finalised names of Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza, the chief justice of Federal Shariat Court; Justice (retd) Tariq Pervez and Justice (retd) Tanvir Ahmad Khan for the post.
The government hopes that the name is finalised before Dec 5, as the Apex Court has set Dec 8 deadline for the high-level appointment.
