Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday inaugurated four-day exhibition “IDEAS 2014” in Karachi, underscoring the need of security and sovereignty of the country by adoption of modern defence technology.
“Pakistan’s security and sovereignty should be the first requirement in the wake of this country’s geographical location in the region… In present times, the states must take into account the activities of non-state actors as well as hackers while keeping an eye on their frontiers,” the PM said in his opening speech at Karachi Expo Center.
The PM stressed upon the need of sophisticated equipment and adoption of modern defence capabilities for the armed forces battling terrorists in country’s tribal belt, hoping that the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb offensive would help purge the country of terrorist elements.
“I am pleased to witness the remarkable display of modern defense equipments and technology here…Pakistan can now claim to have sophisticated defense capability,” he said.
The International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2014 will showcase exhibits including tanks, aircraft, APCs, ammunition, ship building and communications related equipment of over 300 defence companies of the world.
