WASHINGTON: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Tuesday that Washington has seen no Kharg Island oil loadings since August.
He argued that efforts to isolate Iran economically were working. Speaking to 2WAY TV, Bessent also claimed Iran currently had no oil at sea.
He predicted worsening economic conditions but was uncertain when pressure might intensify. Although he mentioned four or eight more weeks, he did not give a firm deadline. At some point, Bessent said, “their economy will go nonlinear”.
Separately, he argued that a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives could do little to block President Donald Trump’s agenda. He cited the administration’s tariff powers.
