Pakistan kept their hopes alive in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand by securing a 9-wicket victory in the third game on Friday.
The win, driven by Hasan Nawaz’s record-breaking century, marked a remarkable turnaround after heavy losses in the first two matches.
After scoring ducks in the first two games of his international career, Hasan Nawaz delivered a spectacular performance, smashing an unbeaten 105 off 44 balls. His innings, the fastest century by any Pakistan player in T20 internationals, included 10 fours and 7 sixes, showcasing his ability to dominate the short boundaries at Eden Park.
Nawaz’s century surpassed Babar Azam’s previous record of a 49-ball hundred against South Africa in 2021. His aggressive knock, featuring audacious ramp shots and powerful strikes, helped Pakistan chase down New Zealand’s target of 204 with four overs to spare.

New Zealand’s Innings
Earlier, New Zealand posted a competitive total of 204, thanks to a blistering 94 off 44 balls by Mark Chapman. Chapman’s innings, which included 11 fours and 4 sixes, dominated the home side’s batting effort. However, the rest of the lineup struggled, with only captain Michael Bracewell making a notable contribution of 31 runs.
Pakistan’s bowling attack, led by Haris Rauf (3-29), kept the Kiwis in check. Rauf’s crucial wickets, including Bracewell’s dismissal, were key in restricting New Zealand’s total.
The victory in Auckland has breathed new life into Pakistan’s campaign, levelling the series at 1-2. The fourth T20I is scheduled for Sunday in Mount Maunganui, where Pakistan will aim to continue their momentum and level the series.
