Pakistan outclassed Ireland in the T20I series, clinching a 2-1 victory at Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin, following a disappointing start in the first match.
In the decisive third match, Pakistan overcame Ireland with a six-wicket win. Despite losing opener Saim Ayub early for just 14 runs, a formidable 139-run partnership between Mohammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam secured the victory and set records, making them the first pair to surpass 3,000 runs and achieve ten-century stands in partnerships.
Babar showcased his skill by hitting three consecutive sixes and four in one over off Benjamin White, marking a career-first. Following the innings of Babar (75 off 42), Rizwan (56 off 38) and Azam Khan contributed a quick 18 off 6 to reach the 179-run target in 17 overs.
Earlier, Ireland posted 178/7 after a strong start. Pakistan’s bowlers, however, quickly took control. Shaheen Afridi removed Ross Adair early on, setting the stage for further dismissals by Mohammad Amir and Abbas Afridi. Shaheen emerged as the standout bowler, taking three wickets for just 14 runs.
Andy Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker initially boosted Ireland’s score, with Tucker hitting a dynamic 73 off 41 balls. Yet, Pakistan’s bowlers regained momentum, leading to wickets that stifled Ireland’s progress and secured Pakistan’s series win.
