Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and senator Aitzaz Ahsan said that opposition parties extended unconditional support to democracy, the government and the prime minister’s cabinet despite facing immense difficulties.
Addressing the joint session of the parliament, the PPP leader said that he received a lot of messages from the party workers who complained as to why the party is supporting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
“We know that if the government passes this critical phase, I am afraid that the government and its ministers would continue their arrogant behavior.
Criticising the government, Aitzaz said that“If you wanted to remove barriers outside the MuQ secretariat, then tell me under which law you have blocked the routes by placing containers in the federal capital,” the PPP leader asked.
He said that it has been witnessed that the government needed to change IG and DIGs repeatedly. He asked the government to lead from the front and give police higher officials instructions in writing.
Aitzaz backing Imran Khan’s claims said that allegations regarding rigging in general elections are valid, adding that the May 11, 2013 polls were massively rigged.
He however, said that Nawaz Sharif and his government are secure as whole parliament is supporting them.
“No one can force you (Nawaz Sharif) to resign as we all are backing the government.”
“We hold hands of yours and your government….and the opposition parties have made history that was never witnessed before. The PPP senator added.
He said that Imran Khan repeatedly gave example of 10 Downing Street, asking him as to where is that 10 Downing Street where baton and slingshots-wielding protesters can stage demonstration.
He said that his party’s slain leader Benazir Bhutto was the one who always led from the front unlike “these leaders” who put their women workers forward to face the police batons and tear gas.
