PARIS: Atch Academy named amateur mixed martial arts fighter Pengo Bossio Wangi, 26, as the man killed in Friday’s shooting in the Paris suburbs.
The Aubervilliers club announced his identity in an Instagram tribute. French authorities had not publicly identified the victim. “Pengo was one of us,” the club wrote.
It remembered Wangi for his smile, energy and generosity. The statement added that nothing justified taking his life. At least five other people suffered injuries in the attack, including a 12-year-old girl.
