East Rutherford, New Jersey: Norway beat Senegal 3-2 in FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I on Monday as Erling Haaland scored twice to send his side into the last 32.
Marcus Holmgren Pedersen put Norway ahead late in the first half after Kalidou Koulibaly’s mistake allowed the substitute right-back to shoot from the edge of the box.
Haaland doubled the lead three minutes after the restart after Martin Odegaard drove forward and released him on the counter-attack. Ismaila Sarr pulled one back for Senegal after Sadio Mane’s flick into the area.
Haaland restored Norway’s two-goal cushion by turning Patrick Berg’s cross in off the crossbar. Sarr scored again late to set up a tense finish, but Norway held on for back-to-back World Cup wins for the first time.
The Manchester City striker has four goals in two matches after also scoring twice in Norway’s 4-1 opening win over Iraq. His international tally now stands at 59 goals in 52 appearances.
Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made several saves before going off injured, with Mory Diaw replacing him. Pathe Ciss later cleared Oscar Bobb’s effort off the line to keep Senegal in the match.
