Nawaz Sharif Calls for Accountability of Conspirators Against His Govt

Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan, expressed his perspective on accountability and said that he did not believe in revenge, but those ‘conspiring’ against his government must be held accountable.

Nawaz Sharif, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), shared his views on accountability, stating that while he does not seek revenge, holding accountable those who plotted against his government is essential.

Nawaz Sharif clarified that while he does not believe in revenge, those who conspired against his government should face accountability. Sharif, expressing gratitude for his acquittal in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield cases, emphasized the importance of holding those responsible for the nation’s sufferings accountable.

Sharif recounted his experiences during his trials, noting that the allegations against him surfaced following his removal as Prime Minister. He regretted being ousted based on an ‘Iqama’ in the Panama case. He raised concerns about the language used during the Panama hearings, questioning the appropriateness of terms like ‘Sicilian Mafia’ and ‘Godfather’.

Nawaz Sharif highlighted the personal toll these trials took on his family, mentioning the incarceration of himself and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, in what he termed ‘fake cases’ and the death of his wife, Kalsoom Begum, who battled cancer in London.

After being acquitted in both the Avenfield and Al-Azizia references, Nawaz Sharif is now focusing on the need for clarity and justice. He voiced the necessity of unveiling the identities of those who conspired against his administration, particularly about the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. Sharif’s address underscores a commitment to transparency and justice in Pakistan’s political landscape, especially after his recent legal victories.
